- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, divided
- 1 large egg
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- Salt, to taste
- Pepper, to taste
- Italian herbs, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, minced garlic, egg, and half the cheese in a large bowl. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian herbs.
- Mix until just combined; avoid overmixing.
- Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in a baking dish.
- Spread ketchup on top for a glaze.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes, then sprinkle with remaining cheese and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until melted and bubbly.
- Let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
Notes
For added flavor, serve with mashed potatoes and drizzle extra ketchup or barbecue sauce on top. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.
