Description
A healthy and flavorful pasta dish featuring ground turkey, fresh broccoli, and a hint of lemon.
Ingredients
Scale
- 12 ounces whole wheat pasta
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 2 cups fresh broccoli florets
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- Juice of 1 lemon
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Olive oil for cooking
- Grated Parmesan cheese for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Boil a large pot of salted water and cook your pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve about a cup of the pasta water before draining.
- Heat a splash of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground turkey, breaking it apart as it cooks. Season with salt and pepper.
- Once the turkey is browned and cooked through, toss in the broccoli and minced garlic. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until the broccoli is tender yet still vibrant.
- Drain the pasta, then add it to the skillet with the turkey and broccoli. Stir everything together, adding some of the reserved pasta water to help bind it all. Squeeze in the lemon juice and sprinkle red pepper flakes if desired.
- Give it a good toss to combine all the flavors. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper, if needed.
- Serve it up while itβs hot, garnished with Parmesan cheese if you like.
Notes
This dish is great on its own, but pairs well with a green salad or garlic bread.
