Description
A tender beef dip sandwich slow-cooked to perfection with an umami-packed dipping sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3–4 pounds beef chuck roast
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Crusty sub rolls
- Optional: Swiss or provolone cheese slices
Instructions
- Sear the meat. Start by heating a bit of oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Season the beef with salt and pepper, then sear it on all sides until it’s beautifully browned.
- Add aromatic basics. In your slow cooker, toss in the sliced onions and minced garlic. Place the seared meat on top, drizzle with Worcestershire sauce, and pour in the beef broth.
- Cover and cook on low for 480 minutes.
- Shred the beef. Once cooked, use two forks to shred the beef right in the slow cooker.
- Serve it up! Pile the shredded beef onto the rolls, top with cheese if using, and serve with the remaining au jus on the side for dipping.
Notes
Serve alongside crispy fries or a fresh side salad. Add pickled jalapeños for extra flavor.
